Cabot Tower is a beautiful tower in the picturesque setting of Brandon Hill. It is a 105ft tower and was built in 1897 to commemorate John Cabot’s famous voyage from Bristol to North America.
Brandon Hill park has lovely views of the city and the harbourside area. It also boasts a children’s play area, paths and a nature conservation area.
The tower itself was designed by Bristol architect William Venn Gough and was paid for by public subscription, the tower is built from red sandstone covered with cream Bath stone. If you fancy it, you are free to climb up the steep, twisting steps of the tower, which is open daily.
