Seafood and shellfish lovers are in for a treat! On the 14th and 15th September 2019, the Plymouth Seafood Festival returns to the Plymouth Barbican and Plymouth Sutton Harbour. The festival is a vibrant celebration of the incredible fresh fish and shellfish.

The Plymouth Seafood Festival is organised by the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership and supported by local businesses. The festival showcases the quality of fresh fish available in Plymouth as well as other fantastic other locally made food and drinks. Plymouth is home to the second-largest fish market in the UK and was the first city to be awarded Fish2Fork – Blue Fish Status, for its commitment to sourcing sustainable fish.  So, there is a lot to celebrate.

The festival is a vibrant celebration of the incredible sustainability caught fresh fish and seafood on offer in Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City, along with live cook-offs in the cookery theatre, entertainment, live music, children’s activities and meet fantastic food traders. There is something for everyone to enjoy during the weekend.

Cookery theatre

Pick up some top tips from the talented regional chefs, watch them create some spectacular dishes in the cookery theatre. They will be taking to the stage between 10am and 4pm each day of the festival, cooking up delicious seafood dishes to inspire and influence your home cooking. There are also opportunities to watch the demonstrations from picking and dressing crab and filleting fish techniques to the traditional craftsmanship with Lobster ‘Withy’ pot making, using willow.

Take home freshly caught fish

Plymouth Boat Cruises will once again be hosting the fresh fish auction on Sunday afternoon. Watch the boat come in, with the ‘catch of the day’ and see what takes your fancy! Snap up some fresh and sustainably caught seafood, to take home, with all proceeds going to the Fishermen’s Mission charity. There is also an opportunity to purchase the fish from the Plymouth Trawler Agents marquee.

Plymouth Seafood Festival is phasing out the use of single-use plastics within the event. You can support this by bringing your own refillable cups, reusable cool bags and containers. Water fill stations can also be found around the area.
