New Year's Eve in Cardiff in 2018

From mouth watering restaurants, captivating bars and clubs where you can dance all the way into 2019, Cardiff is the perfect place to celebrate New Year's Eve

So, you know that you will be spending your New Year’s Eve in Cardiff, but you still have not decided exactly where you will be when the clock strikes twelve.  We have put together a list of things to do for New Year’s Eve, especially as the Welsh capital is the third in the Top 10 UK places to visit on 31st December.

Go Ice Skating at the Winter Wonderland

If you are looking for a New Year’s Eve event for families, this one will have something for all ages.  Pop on your skates and glide and spin across the purpose-built ice rink, just like Torvill and Dean, or enjoy fairground rides including The 90 Metre Tower.  It stands taller than any other building in the city centre, so it guarantees the best views of Cardiff.

There is a variety of food and drinks available, including a two-floor traditional ski-lodge to bring the ultimate Après Ski vibe to Cardiff city centre.  Mouthwatering festive favourites include grilled sausages, burgers, crepes and traditional sweet treats.

Plus, watch the spectacular midnight firework display from the Winter Wonderland and around the Civic Centre to bring in the New Year with a bang!

Go to a ball

If you want to get glammed up for the evening, many venues in Cardiff will be throwing their own party to end all parties.  From stylish hotels, modern bars and top nightclubs the city centre will be busy with party revellers.

Close to Future Inn Cardiff Bay is DEPOT! Their circus style event will be playing music from the decades alongside street food sensations and funky cocktails.  Midnight will see a mega confetti drop countdown.

Celebration dinners

If you are looking for other New Year’s Eve ideas for 2018, many of Cardiff’s restaurants will also be open. Cardiff’s own independent Italian chain, Giovanni’s, will be serving classic dishes and live entertainment.  Michelin star restaurant James Sommerin will be serving a fine dining celebration dinner, and many of the pubs serving curry buffets and hog roasts.

Start the night right

If you need a place to meet before heading to your event, or hitting the town, we are throwing a stylish cocktail hour in Thomas Restaurant at Future Inn Cardiff Bay, between 6.30pm-8.30pm.  Whilst you are enjoying a selection of Welsh canapes, and our specially designed cocktails there will be live background music with our resident live pianist.

It is the perfect way to get your New Year’s celebrations underway, especially as tickets are only £15 per adult.  Bookings can be made on 02920 487111 or by enquiring with meetings.cardiff@futureinns.co.uk

Finish the celebrations in comfort

Why leave the party early, when you do not have too?! With limited public transport services running and high taxi fares, you could consider staying overnight.  With 197 spacious bedrooms, all with large Canadian style beds, you will feel completely relaxed and at home.  Ideal for families, couples and groups, you could spend the morning in bed, cwtched up in our complimentary robe and slippers, whilst discussing the festivities from the night before.  Do not forget to book online for the best rates guaranteed!

However you enjoy the festivities, from everyone at Future Inn Cardiff we wish you a happy and healthy 2019 – Happy New Year!
