Exciting Changes at Future Inn Plymouth with a Brand-New Management Team

It is well known that the hospitality sector is still adapting and changing, especially in the years since COVID-19. The industry as a whole needs help to recruit and keep quality candidates. Even though it remains a challenge, this isn't true at Future Inn Plymouth. A new management team has been appointed, and exciting changes are underway.

Hotel Manager, Andy Byles

Andy's new role as Hotel Manager will see him oversee all operations and manage the team daily. Andy comes from a rich background in management, making him the perfect fit for this role. Andy has been the Sales Manager at Future Inn Plymouth for the last five years.

During the pandemic, the hotel became a hub for key workers. The hotel's proximity to Derriford Hospital – 1.3 miles away - meant we could support those who needed to be close to their loved ones and key workers. During this time, Andy was given a unique understanding of the hotel and often had to diversify by working in the restaurant or housekeeping. Because of this commitment, the hotel was awarded in the Face of Adversity Special Award at the Plymouth Live Business Awards.

Commercial Director of Future Inns UK, Graham Stockman, said, "Andy's promotion to Hotel Manager reflects his dedication, leadership and contribution to our continued success. Having witnessed his significant role in the hotel's journey over the years, I am confident that Andy's vision and the rest of our exceptional management team will further enhance our guest's experience."

Andy added, "I'm thrilled to take on this new role as Hotel Manager of Future Inn Plymouth. With a passionate team by my side, we can create a memorable experience for those visiting the area and local residents joining our exciting events or dining in Fishbone Restaurant. Hospitality is not just about providing services; it's about forging connections. Plymouth has a beautiful and unique history; I look forward to welcoming guests here and encouraging them to explore all that's on offer."

Sales Manager, Ben Ward

Ben, a graduate of Plymouth University studying Tourism and Travel Management, is also no stranger to Future Inns. He was previously the Reservations Manager, managing hotel room bookings, large events and tour groups. He has over ten years of experience working in hospitality.

In his new role, he will oversee the hotel's sales and develop strategies to propel the hotel forward as a leader in the market. He is working on identifying new business opportunities and ensuring that the hotel's offering continues to meet guests' needs, whether visiting for business or leisure.

Ben said, "I'm honoured to work alongside an incredible, talented team of like-minded individuals, all working to elevate the culture and experience of Future Inn Plymouth. As well as re-engaging with the local business community, I'm excited to create a calendar of events and develop the award-winning wedding packages."

Head Chef, Sam Wright

Sam is no stranger to Plymouth, having grown up in the area, studying at the former Plymouth College of Further Education. By age 18, she was already holding the Head Chef role at a leading Cornish restaurant. Furthering her cooking knowledge and kitchen management, she has worked in Germany, moved to the Channel Islands to work for the States of Jersey Prison Service, and ran her own catering company cooking for billionaires, dignitaries and celebrities.

Sam said, "It's exciting to be back in the kitchen in my hometown. I want guests to receive great service in lovely surroundings and have some pleasant surprises too. With the changes implemented so far, I'm looking forward to the exciting opportunities in Fishbone Restaurant, and I want to maintain a high standard of hospitality and customer service."

"Alongside this, I enjoy the challenge of catering big banqueting events, and it's thrilling that I'll get to do this for private dinners, award ceremonies, weddings and Christmas parties at Future Inns. I've done some fantastic things in my career, and I look forward to putting my stamp on this Head Chef position."

A new menu has already been launched for Fishbone Restaurant. Be sure to check out the 5 Must-Try Dishes. Other changes include serving Sunday lunch all day, with a choice of succulent meats, golden crispy roast potatoes, seasonal freshly steamed vegetables, a giant homemade Yorkshire pudding and lashings of real gravy.
