7 Bridal Trends To Consider For A 2021 Wedding

After a challenging 2020 and thousands of postponed weddings, many brides are feeling hopeful that 2021 will be the year they can finally celebrate tying the knot!

And after months upon months of being in lockdown, many brides are starting to feel adventurous. So, it’s likely 2021 will see some beautifully extravagant trends, from sparkly dresses to show-stopping bows. In this article, we will be sharing the seven bridal trends to consider for your 2021 wedding!

1. Statement Bridal Jewellery

Weddings used to be traditional occasions where you would wear grandma’s pearls, but 2021 is the year of statement bridal jewellery sets. Now, brides are building their outfits around their choice of jewellery.

If you want to add some sparkle and drama with your statement jewellery, opt for a simpler and more elegant gown. Or if you want sparkly studs and glittering chains, choose a more ornate gown with gorgeous lace details. The possibilities are endless!

2. Statement Sleeves Are Back

Remember old-school brides with their puffy bell sleeves? Well, statement sleeves are back in fashion. Admittedly, you don’t have to go all out with the giant puffed sleeves, but structured sleeves can add beautiful embellishments to your bridal gown.

Whether you want to go for big and bold or you want to rein in the puffs, statement sleeves can be the perfect way to add some personality and elegance to your look.

3. Pastel Shades

While white and ivory are traditional colour choices for wedding gowns, many brides want to add the element of surprise to their bridal look.

And, after a challenging year of lockdown restrictions, many brides are keen to break the mould and express their individuality at their wedding – who can blame them? After all, it’s probably the first party they’ve had in well over a year!

As a result, many designers expect there will be a boom in pastel coloured wedding dresses. From blush pinks to baby blues, pastel shades will also be a popular choice for bridesmaids too. And some designers even expect the return of the black wedding dress for those brides brave enough to increase the glamour!

4. Bow Embellishments

Many brides have postponed their weddings this past year and, as such, some are worried that their chosen bridal gown is no longer in style. With the prices of wedding dresses as high as they are, this can be an incredibly stress-inducing problem!

Thankfully, there’s an easy fix! A simple way to upgrade your wedding dress to be ‘in’ with this season’s style is to add a bow embellishment. Not only do these bows create a statement piece, a splash of colour, and a pretty embellishment, but they are also a simple and effective way to upgrade your gown for 2021.

5. Party-Style Dresses

For brides getting married in 2021, the celebration will be like no other. After over a year of separation from family and friends, many brides will be looking forward to having a party!

So, 2021 is set to be the year of after party-style dresses, giving brides the freedom to let their hair down at the reception and celebrate. From big ruffles to added sparkles, many brides are expected to embrace a wide range of styles for their show-stopping look!

6. Two Outfit Choices

By far the biggest bridal trend in 2021 is having two outfits for their big day – one for the ceremony and the other for the reception.

Having two outfits is extremely popular for brides as it allows them to opt between the traditional ceremony gown with the sparkly, more daring dress for the reception.

7. Two-Piece Outfits

Brides are loving two-piece dresses in 2021. With so many brides needing to postpone their weddings in 2020, many brides are purchasing two-piece dresses so that they can style their dress differently throughout the day.

Two-piece wedding dresses are also popular because they allow brides the option to re-wear the top or skirt separately to other special events – an attractive option for eco-conscious and sustainable brides!

Final Thoughts…

The coronavirus pandemic has thrown a lot of things into uncertainty and many brides have experienced first-hand the frustration of cancelled wedding venues, postponed plans, and changing fashion and jewellery trends.

However, the trends mentioned above are a great starting point for brides getting married in 2021 and should now, hopefully, provide you with some added inspiration for your big day!
