Bristol Clean Air Zone

Bristol City Council’s Clean Air Zone has been created to help reduce pollution and congestion to create a healthier city. The initiative has been designed to encourage drivers and businesses to change their route, update their car or mode of transportation, and increase the use of public transport. A daily charge will apply to older and more polluting vehicles driving in the zone.

The Bristol Clean Air Zone began charging on Monday 28 November 2022.

Bristol Clean Air Zone Exemptions

Older and more polluting vehicles will be charged. Over 70% of cars are able to travel free of charge. This percentage is thought to increase as more people switch to cleaner vehicles. Residents in the zone, people working in the zone who earn less than £27,000 a year, Blue Badge holders and patients attending the hospital in the zone are exempt.

Hotel Information for the Clean Air Zone

Please note to avoid entering the chargeable Bristol Clean Air Zone, the use of the M32 into the city is required. If your vehicle is not compliant and you enter and exit the car park by the main entrance, you will have to pay the daily charge. Enter via Houlton Street and again exit on the same street, turning right towards Lawrence Hill to avoid paying the daily charge. We recommend double-checking your car's eligibility before travelling.

The car parking at Future Inn Bristol is outside the Clean Air Zone. As long as you enter via Houlton Street and again exit on the same street, turning right towards Lawrence Hill.

Guests at the hotel can park at Cabot Circus Car Park for £9 per night. The car park is next door to the hotel. The main entrance is 50 meters past the BJJ MMA unit (previously Office Outlet) on your left, next to Enterprise car rental. Or enter via the Houlton Street entrance to avoid the Clean Air Zone by turning left after the BJJ MMA unit. The Sat Nav postcode is BS2 9AB.

Upon arrival, drive straight in and take a ticket. Parking for the hotel is available on all levels. However, we advise guests to park nearer the ground floor for easier access. Make your way to the hotel via the exit on the ground floor marked ‘Shop Mobility’. The hotel is signposted from the ground floor level of the car park. Upon your departure, please present your ticket to our reception team, who will validate it for you. Kindly note that refunds cannot be issued if you fail to validate your ticket at reception and settle the charge at the car park.

Please note the height restriction is 2.15m / 7.05ft.

Visitors for business conferences can get discounted parking if pre-arranged, and diners in Chophouse Restaurant get 50% off parking.

Hotel Drop-Off Zone

To the rear of the hotel, there is a drop-off zone where parking is permitted for 15 minutes only, after which time a parking charge notice will be issued. Blue Badge holders can park in the drop-off zone for £9 per night. If you are a Blue Badge holder, please register your vehicle in reception when you arrive.

Please note that our hotel drop-off zone is in the Clean Air Zone. You may wish to double-check if you will be charged beforehand.
