Cycling staycation in Cardiff

Cardiff is a compact city making it very easy to get around. Wales is renowned for having some of the most breathtakingly beautiful cycle routes in Europe with cyclists often flocking to try their hand. Cardiff is well and truly part of this – river side runs, varying trails and biking down the bay make this area a wonderful place to get on two wheels. All the routes are relatively easy meaning anyone can jump on and get going.

Cardiff Bay Cycle Trail

The 10km trail offers a lovely circular ride that links up all the fabulous attractions and activities within Cardiff Bay. You'll even cross Pont Y Werin bridge (The People's bridge) into Penarth. On clear days, out to sea you glimpse Flat Holm and Steep Holm islands and maybe even Western-Super-Mare.

The Taff Trail

As beautiful as it is long, this ride allows you to follow the River Taff, from Cardiff to Brecon, on this fantastic water side cycling. The route goes through Pontypridd and Merthyr Tydfil with the final section passing the Pontsticill, Pentwyn and Talybont Reservoirs. The trail is roughly 55 miles meaning it is more suited to the avid cyclist.
