The Great South West Sportive 2020

On 13th September 2020, you can ride 52, 75 or 104 miles of stunning Westcountry scenery

After a first successful year, The Great South West Sportive is back for 2020.  There are three routes; 52 miles - Short, 75 miles - Standard, or 104 miles - Extreme.  Along all of the routes you will enjoy the stunning scenery of the countryside, moorland and across the iconic Tamar Bridge.  All riders will enjoy challenging climbs and twisting descents along the fully supported and signed routes.  What's more, the event has been designed and planning by cyclists, for cyclists.

All three routes will pass through key stages including The Tamar Bridge crossing, a long climb from Horsebridge as you re-enter Devon and the famous Strava ‘Top 100’ climb of Rundlestone, known locally as Pork Hill.  The Extreme route takes on an additional 29 miles of picturesque Dartmoor, passing through the famous village of Widecombe in the Moor from the folksong 'Uncle Tom Cobley and all', and down through the deep valley crossing The River Dart at Dartmeet.

There are also well-stocked and strategically placed food stations, each offering sweet and savoury goodies. In 2019 they were sponsored by Dartmoor Brewery where a free beer was waiting for riders at the finish line. There is mechanical, medical and field support throughout the event.

Participants get a lot for their entry price including a finishers medal, goodie bag, t-shirt, route map and GPS files, feed stations, energy food and drink, electronic chip timing, complimentary post-ride massage and more.

The Race Village and the start line are found at Plymouth Argyle, approximately a 10-minute drive from Future Inn Plymouth.  Here you will find plenty of race day parking.
