What's On in Plymouth New Year's Eve 2018

You have just wrapped your head around Christmas, and it is now time to start planning your New Year's Eve in Plymouth.

Unsure where you would like to go? There are family-friendly New Year’s Eve activities or dinner dances planned in Plymouth, so there is something for everyone this year.  Plymouth is well known for hosting some of the best events in the South West!

New Year’s Eve Events for Families

The city of Plymouth has a history of staying in tune with what families want, and this year is no different.  There are many things to do on New Year’s Eve:

Penguins: A LEGO® Brick Trail

The penguins are definitely around to spread some Christmas magic over Plymouth.  There are 20 life-size LEGO brick penguins hidden in selected shops and businesses across the city centre.  There are 19 life-size Rockhopper penguins and an impressive Emperor penguin.

Follow the map trail and collect the name of each penguin.  The trail runs until 3rd January 2019 and the map is available to download, or collect in participating shops, libraries or the Plymouth Tourist Information Centre on the Barbican.

Take A Magic Carpet Ride

It is not part of the festive celebrations unless you go see a Panto. This year you can see Aladdin at the Plymouth Athenaeum until 6th January 2019.  Shedding a new light on the well-known story about the poor street boy, his magic lamp, the princess he falls in love with, and the evil sorcerer to triumph over.   Tickets start from £17 per person.

Glide Across the Ice

A great way to end 2018 is by pretending you are Torvill and Dean and taking to the ice.  There is a session at 12pm or 2pm at the Plymouth Pavilion’s Ice Rink.  Adults who are a bit like Bambi on the ice or for younger skaters there are skate aids that look like seals, polar bears and penguins – do not worry, you will not be dodging wild animals whilst you skate, they are designed to keep you upright.  Tickets start from £4.20 for children and £7.50 for adults.

Adult Only Celebrations

If you want to get glammed up for the evening, many venues in Plymouth will be throwing their own party.  From stylish hotels, modern bars and top nightclubs the area will be busy with party revellers.
