Even though Fishbone Restaurant is the home of fresh fish, a lot of consideration has been taken to cater for all diets including vegan and gluten-free. The elegant restaurant is a cosy but bright space filled with comfortable booths and stylish furniture. It has gained an excellent reputation as a perfect setting for a family celebration, a catch up with friends, client meeting or an intimate dinner for two.

Plymouth is known for its seafood, and there are many fish restaurants in the area. Fishbone Bar and Restaurant use fresh fish from the Barbican, a short drive from the hotel, in all of the menus. As well as serving traditional beer battered fish and chips with peas and tartar sauce, with a gluten-free version available too, some of the new signature dishes on the Harbourside Menu include West country mussels cooked in a white wine and garlic butter sauce, served with chunky chips and homemade crusty bread or a baked sea bass; topped with red pepper and red onion bread crumb served with seasonal vegetables, new baby potatoes and white wine butter sauce.

If fish is not your thing, there are plenty of other dishes to tantalise your taste buds. A traditional hunter's chicken has been added to the menu; chargrilled chicken breast stuffed with smoked cheddar cheese and wrapped in streaky bacon, served with BBQ sauce, garden peas and chunky chips, or for something with a bit of zing, the vegan-friendly stir-fried Thai noodles; with vegetables in a Thai sauce with sesame oil, garlic, ginger, fresh lime, soy sauce and red chilli. Garlic king prawns or chargrilled chicken can be added to the dish.

Start the day right, with a full English buffet breakfast. Alongside the traditional sausage, bacon and eggs is a continental selection of smoked salmon, cured meats and cheeses and a range of pastries. You can also dive into pots of yoghurt, granola and other breakfast cereals, or a slice of toast or two. As well as enjoying unlimited fruit juices, tea or coffee – the perfect way to fuel the day.

The more relaxed daytime menu has the perfect mix of light bites and satisfying dishes. The Greek Salad; feta cheese, vine cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, black olives, green peppers, oregano, lemon and extra virgin olive oil dressing served with warm homemade focaccia bread is sure to be a favourite, or there is a selection of sandwiches, wraps, baguettes and jacket potatoes. If you want something more filling Ham, egg and chips is highly recommended; with Devon ham, two fried eggs served with chunky chips and garden peas or the 8oz rump steak; locally sourced in Devon. It is served with cherry tomatoes, onion rings and chunky chips. Garlic king prawns can be added on to make it a Surf N Turf.

Children are more than welcome in Fishbone Restaurant, and they have a dedicated menu. Under 12’s can enjoy a main course, a dessert and a drink for £7 each. Tasty treats include cheeseburger and chips or sausage, mash and gravy with chocolate brownies or ice cream selection for dessert. Under 5’s eat for free with a paying adult all year round, but this offer is extended to under 12’s during the school holidays.

Experienced restaurateur Fabrice Cotte joined us at the beginning of the year and will lead the team going forward. He has a wealth of work experience in hospitality, which has meant he is a fantastic addition to the line-up. In the short time that he has been with us, Fabrice has already improved the service by influencing the back of house procedure with our new Head Chef and front of house team including the professional standards from the initial greeting of guests to serving the food.
