Wales Womens Football

Women's football fever is here! The Welsh women's team has played games at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea, Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli, Rodney Parade in Newport, and the Cardiff City Stadium. After the Principality Stadium, it is the second-largest stadium in Cardiff and Wales. It officially holds 33,280 supporters. It is the home of Cardiff City Football Club and the Wales National Football Team.

The Wales national team has made significant strides in recent years, steadily rising in prominence within the international football landscape. Although they have yet to qualify for a major tournament such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup or UEFA Women’s European Championship, the team narrowly missed out on a playoff place for Euro 2022 and reached the World Cup playoff round in 2023, falling to Switzerland in extra time.

The Wales football national team has taken giant strides forward, making history by qualifying for their first-ever major tournament, UEFA Women’s Euro 2025. Their campaign featured dramatic playoff victories - including triumphs over Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland. The record attendance for the Wales Women’s Football Team is 16,845 spectators, achieved during the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 playoff against the Republic of Ireland at Cardiff City Stadium - marking a historic milestone for women’s football in Wales.

The Future of Welsh Football

Under the guidance of manager Rhian Wilkinson, the Wales team continues to push forward, with Wales football today showcasing real progress on the international stage. Recent campaigns in the cup qualifying round and the Nations League have highlighted the growing strength of women’s football in Wales, backed by the Football Association of Wales and the structure of the Cymru Leagues and Adran Leagues at home. From fixtures in the Welsh Cup to competitive clashes in Wales UEFA competitions, fans are turning out in record numbers, with match tickets in high demand as support for the women’s game reaches new heights.

Wales Women's National Football Team Players

Key players such as Jess Fishlock, Sophie Ingle, Angharad James, Loren Dykes, and Laura O'Sullivan have played pivotal roles in raising the team's profile, bringing experience and leadership to the squad. The team's achievements are also reflected in their climb up the FIFA world rankings and increasing competitiveness against higher-ranked teams. Their progress has inspired a new generation of female footballers in Wales, contributing to the growth and development of the sport across the nation.
