The Cardiff Half Marathon is Wales' largest mass participation event
Taking place on 6th October 2019 runners are starting at Cardiff Castle, this fast and flat route will take you past the capital’s most iconic landmarks with beautiful scenery and historic buildings. Running through Cardiff Bay and Roath Park is simply stunning and defines what a fantastic half marathon this is.
The Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon has grown into one of the largest road races in the United Kingdom. The first event took place back in 2003, celebrating its 15th year in style in 2018. In 2018, the Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon played host to the inaugural Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships. The course played host to the IAAF/Cardiff University World Half Marathon Championships in March 2016, where Britain’s Mo Farah won a bronze medal and Kenya’s Geoffrey Kamworor won back-to-back World Half Marathon titles. In the women’s race Peres Jepchirchir led a Kenyan clean sweep in the women’s event.
