Blackweir Live is an event series in Cardiff that showcases live music and entertainment. It is located on the outskirts of the city centre in the Blackweir Fields area along the River Taff. Headline gigs will be held for up to 35,000 people. The launch of Blackweir Live, a new partnership between Cardiff-based DEPOT Live and UK promoters Cuffe and Taylor, is back for a second year in 2026.

The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex, in 1976 by frontman Robert Smith, known for their distinctive blend of post-punk, gothic rock, and pop. With timeless hits such as “Friday I’m in Love,” “Just Like Heaven,” “Lovesong,” and “Pictures of You,” the band have become one of the most influential acts in alternative music. In 2024, The Cure released Songs of a Lost World - their first album in 16 years - which topped the UK charts and reaffirmed their enduring place as icons of modern music.

Teddy Swims (born Jaten Collin Dimsdale) is an American singer-songwriter from Conyers, Georgia, who blends genres like R&B, soul, pop, and country. He first gained attention through YouTube covers from artists spanning diverse styles, before releasing original music - his debut major-label single “Picky” in 2020. His breakthrough came in 2023 with “Lose Control”, which eventually hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 2024 after a long climb and became a major global hit. Since then, he’s released I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1), followed by subsequent music that shows increasing emotional vulnerability - dealing with issues like heartbreak, identity, and mental health.

Neil Young, the legendary Canadian singer-songwriter, is coming to Cardiff next summer as part of his Love Earth World Tour. He’ll be performing on 5 July 2026 at Blackweir Fields, backed by his band The Chrome Hearts. This gig marks his first-ever show in Wales, a big moment for Cardiff. 

The set is expected to draw from his extensive six-decade career - think classics from Harvest, After the Gold Rush, Rust Never Sleeps, plus newer material. He’ll be joined on the bill by Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton as special guests.

It is incredibly easy to get to Blackweir Fields from Future Inns:

  • It is a 15-minute taxi ride from Future Inn Cardiff to Blackweir.
  • Cardiff Bay train station is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. There will be two stops to Cathays, followed by a 10-minute walk to the event site.
  • Several buses go into the city centre from Lloyd George Avenue or from the Wales Millennium Centre
  • The Aquabus (water taxi) runs hourly from Cardiff Bay between 1030 and 1630 and stops in Bute Park, across the road from the Principality Stadium. (Weather permitting.) The journey takes about 25 minutes. It'll then be a 10 to 15-minute walk to the event.
  • Future Inn Cardiff is a cycle-friendly hotel, offering guests the option to store their bikes in their rooms, complete with cycle mats provided. It takes 19 minutes to get there by bike.
