Cardiff International Sports Village

At the Cardiff Village, swim, workout, watch ice hockey, go ice skating or white water rafting

Sports Village Cardiff

Cardiff Bay, less than two miles from the city centre, has become a widely respected sporting destination in its own right. Cardiff International Sports Village is exciting. Bordering the freshwater lake created by Cardiff Bay Barrage, the Sports Village already boasts two Olympic standard sporting facilities, Cardiff International White Water and Cardiff International Pool, both of which were used as training venues for the London games in 2012. Alongside these, you will find the Viola Arena, which is both a public skating rink and home of the Cardiff Devils Elite League ice hockey team.

Cardiff International Pool

Cardiff International Pool is a modern facility with a 50m Olympic swimming pool. There's also a leisure pool with flumes, a lazy river, Space-Bowl, slides and a toddler area. If swimming isn't for you, there is a state-of-the-art gym, leisure centre and group fitness classes. Plus, a health suite with a sauna, steam room and spa.

Iceskating in Cardiff

You can ice skate in Cardiff Ice Rink. As well as booking lessons, you can book a public session. Take to the ice and glide around. Children can even hire a penguin skating aid if they aren't confident on the ice. There's even a Friday Night Ice Party from 8.15pm. General admission starts from £10 plus skate hire, and children start from £5. Family tickets are also available.

The Cardiff Devils

The Cardiff Devils are an Elite League Ice Hockey team and the only one from Wales. The Viola Stadium, previously the Ice Arena Wales, is located at the International Sports Village in Cardiff Bay. Here you can cheer them on most weekends from September to March.

Cardiff International White Water

A centre of excellence for training, Cardiff International White Water provides many amazing activities. White water rafting is one of the most sociable activities available. With an indoor wave, a simulated surf machine provides the thrill of bodyboarding. Get harnessed up, cross the high ropes timber structure towering above the white water course. Other activities include canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, hot dogging and more.

Cardiff Bay Velodrome

Cardiff Council announced planning permission for a new velodrome to be built at the International Sports Village. The 333-metre cycling track will be joined by a new clubhouse and stands. This development plans will replace the one currently at Maindy.
