Afternoon Tea in Cardiff
We recently welcomed Sophie from Afternoon Tea Cardiff, who sampled our Taste of Wales Afternoon Tea in Thomas Bar & Restaurant. Read her glowing review from her blog here...
Like many millennials, Sophie’s favourite hobby is trying different afternoon teas around Cardiff and South Wales and writing about her experience. In just over a year of running the blog website, she has managed to sample many of the prestigious and popular venues that offer Afternoon Tea.
“The Welsh theme made it extra special knowing it was locally produced products like Caerphilly cheese.”
We like to do it a bit different from the rest, and guarantee a Taste of Wales in our afternoon tea selection. The Thomas Restaurant team pride themselves on providing the best, mouth-watering dishes using fresh local ingredients.
“Everything is made in house, and you also get unlimited tea or coffee.”
The Taste of Wales Afternoon Tea is served with unlimited servings of tea or coffee, but we highly recommend continuing the theme with Welsh Brew Loose Leaf Tea. You can also add on a glass of prosecco for £3.50, champagne or even a cocktail for £7.
“The platter was so big it filled the table! It all looked lovely and pretty decorated with violets.”
The Afternoon Tea includes Chef’s choice of 3 fillings which include locally sourced ham and wholegrain mustard, smoked salmon with crème fraiche and dill, egg mayonnaise with cress, Caerphilly cheese and red onion chutney or hummus and roasted vegetables.
“The venue was nice and bright, and the cost is unbelievable! £12 a person is an amazing value.”
Alongside the sandwich platter are handmade scones with clotted cream and jam and homemade cakes including Bara Brith and Welsh Cakes.
“It is a perfect location for hen parties and baby showers. A hen party had arrived while we were there, but they had their tea in a private room.”
Bring a level of elegance and sophistication to your hen party, birthday or baby shower afternoon tea in Cardiff Bay. What is better than indulging in the classic tradition of enjoying pots of tea, nibbling finger sandwiches and delicious cakes with the girls?
“The restaurant is bright and colourful with seating also available outside.”
Thomas Restaurant is located in Future Inn Cardiff and serves British food, as well as contemporary and traditional Welsh cuisine. It is the perfect setting for a family celebration, a catch-up with friends, a client meeting or an intimate dinner for two.
The Taste of Wales Afternoon Tea is served Monday - Sunday between 1pm-5pm. Read the full review Afternoon Tea Cardiff, who also took all of the photographs.
