Let's start with a classic! Portishead Open Air Pool is a 33-metre heated seawater pool with serious retro charm. Overlooking the Bristol Channel, it's loved by locals and visitors alike. Henleaze Lake

One for the open water lovers! In North Bristol, Henleaze Lake is a dreamy spot surrounded by greenery. Originally a quarry, it's now a peaceful oasis perfect for wild swimming. The Lake is open to Henleaze Swimming Club Members and their guests only, every day from May to September inclusive. It's worth it for a serene swim among the trees.

Bristol Harbour

Yes, you can swim in the harbour! From June to October, book a slot for the weekend swimming sessions at Bristol Harbour, just in front of The Cottage Inn at Baltic Wharf. The area is roped off, and the water is tested weekly to ensure it meets the standards for bathing water. It's proper city-centre swimming — with a twist.

David Lloyd Clubs

If you're after comfort and classes, the David Lloyd clubs in Bristol - Long Ashton and Westbury - offer both indoor and outdoor pools, along with aqua fitness sessions, kids' coaching, and access to the spa and sauna, all included. Great for combining fitness and relaxation. Members get free entry, and on occasion, you can buy guest passes for the day.

St Andrews Park Lido

Tucked just off Gloucester Road, this paddling pool in St Andrews Park is ideal for toddlers and little splashers. It's open from the first May bank holiday through to September and sits within a lovely park complete with a playground and plenty of picnic space.
