The Lake is open to Henleaze Swimming Club Members and their guests only, every day from May to September inclusive. It's worth it for a serene swim among the trees.

Yes, you can swim in the harbour! From June to October, book a slot for the weekend swimming sessions at Bristol Harbour, just in front of The Cottage Inn at Baltic Wharf. The area is roped off, and the water is tested weekly to ensure it meets the standards for bathing water. It's proper city-centre swimming — with a twist.

David Lloyd Clubs

If you're after comfort and classes, the David Lloyd clubs in Bristol - Long Ashton and Westbury - offer both indoor and outdoor pools, along with aqua fitness sessions, kids' coaching, and access to the spa and sauna, all included. There are marked swimming loops (up to 500m in summer), as well as night swims, SUP, and a variety of splashy sports. It's suitable for ages six and up, and perfect for anyone chasing an aquatic adventure.

Wotton-under-Edge Swimming Pool

A short trip out of the city takes you to this community-run gem, featuring open-air swimming. The retractable roof is drawn back for open-air swimming on good weather days, but kept closed when it's cold. The Wotton-under-Edge Pool is open daily throughout the summer for public swimming. There is no need to book ahead, just turn up and pay at the gate.
