Guide to Tackling the Cardiff January Sales

With large shopping centres, high street favourites, individual stores, and a thriving indoor market, Cardiff is the ideal destination for a shopping trip. The real highlight of Cardiff's retail scene are the Victorian and Edwardian arcades, full of independent boutiques and cafes, worth a visit as architectural gems.

Being placed in the Top 10 Shopping Destinations in the UK, Cardiff offers a vast array of shops. With the January sales well and truly upon us, we have put together a brief guide on how to best tackle the cities shops during this busy month.

Plan Ahead

Shopping can be a whole lot less stressful if you know exactly what you’re looking for, so, make a list of what you need & want…and be prepared to make those compromises. We all love a bit of retail therapy but you can also use the sales to prepare for the coming year’s essentials (without breaking the bank), for instance, that warm winter coat you’ve been putting off purchasing since October.

Decide where you want to shop

Have you decided what shops you’d like to visit? The St David’s Centre is a fantastic place to start for all of your high-street needs, as is Queen Street. Head to the fantastic Victorian Arcades in the Castle Quarter for discounted vintage bargains & quirky gift stores. You could also visit the large department stores such as, John Lewis, House of Fraser and Debenhams which host fantastic January discounts.

Keep your energy up

Shopping can be extremely draining, so why not come prepared with some handbag fuel such as nuts, dried fruit or a handful of that left-over Chocolate from Christmas. Remember to bring a bottle of water too – you’re going to need that hydration to keep yourself seriously focused on your bargain finding mission!

Most Importantly…Find a good place to rest

Whether you would like a lovely place to stay on Friday night ready to hit the sales first thing Saturday Morning or a place to unwind after a full day of shopping, with rooms from £62.10, Future Inn Cardiff is the perfect choice. We are in close proximity to the city centre & offer free parking!  Check Availability here
