Cardiff Destination Guide
If you are looking to escape everyday life and do something different this weekend then a weekend break to the beautiful city of Cardiff may be just what you’re looking for. There’s plenty to do in Cardiff and as a major university town Cardiff has a young and lively atmosphere along with a top-notch theatre, great restaurants and tons of pubs and social venues.
Cardiff has a quaint old city centre that is best explored on foot. One of the main attractions you will find on your walk is Cardiff Castle located right in the centre of the city. It has beautiful grounds to wander around and the interior is very unique and the tour is well worth it! In the city centre you will also find the Welsh National Museum which is one of the best museums in Britain and don’t miss the quaint Victorian and Edwardian shopping arcades full of fun and unusual items.
Not far from the city centre you will find the new Cardiff Bay development. Here you can entertain yourself for hours with the large assortment of bars, restaurants, live music venues and for the fans there is the Dr. Who Exhibition.
If you’re still looking for more to do on your weekend break to Cardiff you can take a boat trip to the Barrage or explore and learn at the Techniquest Science Discovery Centre. A great place to take the kids (and big kids are welcome as well!)
For those of you who like to explore the great outdoors on your ideal weekend break Cardiff has excellent parks and it is a great place to base yourself for excursions to the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Vale of Glamorgan.
